The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the comprehensive schedule for the Indian Men’s Senior Team’s 2026-27 international home season. The upcoming calendar is set to be a treat for fans across the country, featuring a total of 22 matches hosted across 17 different venues.

The marquee attraction of the season is the high-stakes Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will see Australia visit India for a five-match Test series starting in January 2027.

The Road to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The season kicks off in late September 2026 with a white-ball blitz against the West Indies. The Caribbean side will play three ODIs followed by a five-match T20I series. Notably, the white-ball leg will see international cricket return to venues like Trivandrum and Mullanpur (New Chandigarh), while also stopping at traditional hubs like Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Following a brief window for away assignments, the home season resumes in December 2026 with a visit from Sri Lanka. The neighbors will compete in a balanced white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is.

The new year will begin with a historic touch as Zimbabwe tours India for a three-match ODI series in early January. This series offers a rare opportunity for fans in Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai to witness the rising Zimbabwe side in Indian conditions.

The Grand Finale: India vs. Australia

The season will reach its crescendo with the return of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The five-match Test series is scheduled to begin on January 21, 2027, in Nagpur.

The BCCI has strategically spread the Test matches across diverse regions:

  • 1st Test: Nagpur (Jan 21–25)
  • 2nd Test: Chennai (Jan 29–Feb 2)
  • 3rd Test: Guwahati (Feb 11–15)
  • 4th Test: Ranchi (Feb 19–23)
  • 5th Test: Ahmedabad (Feb 27–Mar 3)

Interestingly, the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host an ODI against Zimbabwe but has once again been omitted from the Australia Test roster—a streak that dates back to the legendary 2001 encounter.
