Jennifer Lopez looked ready for her Christmas rom-com plot line in cozy winter essentials on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The star swung by a bakery in Los Angeles to pick up coffee and pastries in a look worthy of a Nancy Meyers movie main character.

The “Let’s Get Loud” singer favored a quieter kind of a luxury in an oversize cream-colored mock neck cable knit sweater with wide cuffs that nearly covered her nude French manicure. The ivory hue of her chunky knit almost perfectly matched the pale snowy shade of her rare, matte alligator skin Hermès Birkin 25 with gold hardware. Despite its diminutive size, the bag is valued at more than $80,000.

The star paired her textural sweater and Birkin bag with pleated, light wash barrel jeans featuring decorative seams running down the midline. Lopez was one of the stars who made the silhouette a celebrity-favorite denim trend this fall, alongside other early adopters including Katie Holmes.

Her holiday-special styling reflects the way celebrity creative consultant Marissa Pelly wears the same polarizing denim trend. “There’s nothing I love more than wearing a turtleneck and my favorite long wool overcoat,” Pelly previously told Marie Claire. “I’ll usually call on my barrel jeans to shake things up a bit.”

The key to capturing Jennifer Lopez’s unique sense of style, I’ve found, is emphasizing a high-low mix of accessible wardrobe staples, such as sweaters in soft neutral hues and an arsenal of versatile denim, with covetable designer accessories. I’ve always found it charming that Lopez actually wears her vast collection of rare Birkin bags in her everyday life, rather than let them waste away in a hermetically sealed vault inside her mansion. When it comes to baggy jeans, Jennifer Lopez has a tried-and-true method of dress.

Nearly every time the 55-year-old breaks out a pair of wide-leg pants, she counteracts her oversized bottoms with a skintight turtleneck, topping everything off with the highest platforms she can find. The contrast between the baggy jeans and fitted top allows the performer to show off her hard-won figure while embracing even the most polarizing denim trend.

Yes, I’m talking about the controversial barrel jeans, though that’s far from the only wide-leg style J.Lo gravitates toward. Take a look at some examples:

Her latest outfit proves it: she’s still Jenny from the block. Yes, Jennifer Lopez still has a fondness for the fashions of the early 2000s—and she is pulling them off like a true pro.

Her latest off-duty look, seen in photos published by Daily Mail, saw the actress rocking a cozy Fall look that comprised a whole bunch of turn of the Millenium trends. On the top, she wore a thick white cable-knit sweater (yes, it instantly gave us flashbacks to Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally). She paired the oversized Fall staple with a pair of polarizing ultra wide-leg baggy jeans with a seam down the center of the leg. The cherry on top, however, were the shoes. To finish things off like a true Y2K It-girl, J.Lo reached for her trusty pair of platform Uggs.

Lopez is a long-time fan of the classic Aussie boots. She wore the exact same pair back in March, when she paired them with a charcoal gray lounge set while out and about in Los Angeles. Just a few weeks ago, she donned a pair of the brand’s Mini Heights platform boots. Last August, she swapped out her warm platform boots for a pair of fuzzy slippers, another staple of the brand. Last February, she opted for the classic calf-high Ugg boot while keeping warm in a matching fur coat in Los Angeles.

And back in 2019, she reached for her Uggs once again while staying cozy on the set of Hustlers.

Evidently, the love affair between J.Lo and Uggs goes back a long time.

Lopez has seemingly swapped over to her comfy wardrobe as she takes some time off in Los Angles after a busy press tour for her film Unstoppable that saw her wearing countless show-stopping looks. Just take her slinky white sweater dress, or her golden sequined gown for the Wicked premiere. In fact, earlier this week, Lopez went full glam for the Governor Awards in a slinky Zuhair Murad sparkly gown. Evidently, the star was ready to get as comfy as possible for her time off—and what could be more cozy than her trusty Uggs?
